Farm Journal 11/11/23

Farm pick up to Wednesdays 3 – 7pm. We’ll have your order packed and set outside on the marble counter. Look for the bag with your name. Frozen items will be in a cooler.

LAST MARKET OF 2023 Northside (Allegheny Commons) on Friday 3 – 7, until Nov 17.  (We’ll move the pick up next to The Mayfly Market in the Northside on Saturdays)

LAST MARKET OF 2023 Squirrel Hill (beacon/bartlette) on Sunday 9 – 1, until Nov 19. (We’ll move the pick up to Frick Park Market, specifics still to be determined)

Don’t forget that you can place an order and we’ll bring it to the markets for you!

We’ve made headway on the driveway construction. I have a mountainous mulch pile that I stand on and take a daily picture of the progress. I can’t wait to see the final result – we’re bringing in tri-axel truck loads of gravel next week! We’re almost done with the scraping of the road. Much of the soil we’re moving is beautiful black gold that we’ve created over the years. We’ve added buckets and buckets of wood chips to the muddy road way, over time it’s decomposed and is now headed for the fields.

The garlic is all planted and mulched! It’s a good feeling to have that behind us. We planted about 1050′ of garlic – that’ll be next year’s CSA garlic, seed garlic, and garlic salt.

We’re wrapping up the Holiday Bundle sale, as this is the last week to buy it! Buy it here. It’s a great way to ensure that your family is eating the best quality meats over the holidays!.

We still have cabbage, garlic, and sauerkraut – along with all our pork products!

What we DON’T have is eggs!! Our chickens have taken a break and we’re waiting for them to get back into the mood! We have almost 100 layers and are only getting 2 eggs a day! We just introduced 20 new laying hens, and I suspect that they’ve disrupted the “pecking order” and it’ll take some time to get back to equilibrium!
