Let the Veggies Begin!
Here's where you'll find all the info you'll need to know about your first pick up:
For Your First Pick-Up:
Our fist pick up of the CSA will be on Wednesday June 7th and Saturday June 10th.
If you've signed up for a Workshare please come on June 6th or June 10th (9-1). We have a shared lunch at 1:00. We'll supply a main course and ask that you bring a side dish to share. Please let us know which day you're coming and stick with it!
If you're coming to the farm to pick up: Stop at the barn (at 7115 Ridge Rd). It will be open from 11am - 7 pm on Wednesday and Saturdays 2-5 pm. Just park by the old wooden barn and come in. We'll check your name off and give you an intro to our CSA system. Bring your own bags please!
If you're picking up at the Phipps Farmers Market: we'll be at our market stand from 2:30pm - 6:30pm. Swing by and pick up your veggies. Bring your own bags please! If you'd like us to bring down items that we sell in the barn - just let email@example.com know. Each newsletter will list the items we have for sale.
We start selling at the Lawrenceville Market (Arsenal Park) on Saturdays 1-4 pm, June 3rd. If you'd like to have a CSA share brought to you at that market - let Greg know and we'll put you on the list.
We also make an appearance at the Farmers Market at Pitt. Here's a list of dates when we'll be there.
If you've picked up at the Boyd Community Center in the past: consider coming to the farm on Saturdays instead.
If you've purchased Market Cards or plan to purchase market cards: it really helps us out if you buy them in bulk now. We consider "bulk" to be 7 or more cards (equaling $350 investment, similar to the 1/2 shares). Sticking with the mindset that you're not just buying gift cards from our farm, you're helping to subsidize our up front costs.
This is our second year offering Market Share Cards. Many of you requested this option, so we're giving it a try. You can purchase items that are only from our farm. i.e. vegetables that we grow, pork, turkey and a few value added items, like jelly or garlic salt.. In the future, we hope to have a more diverse selection of items from our farm - ultimately becoming a Whole Diet CSA. We want to become your one-stop-shop for all things local, organic and good in the Alle-kiski valley!
There will be two sections in the barn - the CSA section - where members who have joined the 20 week CSA can get all of their designated items, and the Market Table, where items are up for sale. We'll start posting prices (similar to our farmers market prices) and you can buy these items with cash, check, credit or market share cards.
If you're a half share member, I'll send out an individual email assigning your start date.
A Family Friendly Farm
We're hoping to make weekends, in particular, a family friendly event. Come pick up your veggies, take a walk on the farm, maybe pick your own cherry tomatoes or raspberries, pack a picnic, or luck out and share a wood fired pizza with us on an occasional weekend! Bring your family (don't touch the electric fences), your dog (on a leash, no chasing animals). See this as an opportunity to decompress, breathe fresh air, know where your food comes from, and reconnect with each other. Get a little farm dirt under your nails. (I'll bombard you later about the health benefits of our farm microbes). Please make our farm your farm too!
Pay attention to future newsletters for info about upcoming events. All folks are welcome to attend, some events are fee, while we will charge for others.
